7 manufacturers share 1.3 billion set-top box Market

     The project of "reaching every village" of radio and TV has brought "warm sunshine in winter" to domestic set-top box manufacturers. China's live broadcasting star market is opening, and a huge market of "reaching every village" has opened.

     Recently, the reporter learned from the China Procurement and Bidding website that the first phase of the bidding result of radio and TV village access to direct broadcast satellite TV receiving equipment has been released on December 16. A total of 7 set-top box manufacturers, including Tongzhou Electronics,           Shanghai Radio and Television, Sichuan Jiuzhou, Qingdao Haier, Changhong Network, Hisense and Fujian Shenzhou Electronics, won the bidding. They shared the purchase feast of 3,664,448 set-top boxes, with a total purchase amount of more than 1.3 billion yuan.

     For radio and television coverage, the country will spend 3.4 billion yuan purchasing is given priority to with the set-top box receiving equipment, in 2010 completed the TV blind area covered by the task, the bidding funded more than 1.3 billion yuan, the remaining $2.1 billion will be in 2009 and 2010, the second  phase of the "village" project, the third midterm done step by step.

     Industry insiders pointed out that the national government has explicitly stipulated that during the "11th Five-Year" period, the country's 22 million users should all popularize satellite direct broadcasting star, currently only 2009 and 2010, it is estimated that 2009 satellite direct broadcasting star market will demand more than 10 million set top boxes.

     The bidding subject is the Planning and Finance Department of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and the Social Development Department of the National Development and Reform Commission. According to the bidding result, Among them, Hisense received 532,900 set-top box orders, Shenzhou 555,49, Kyushu 557,011, Tongzhou 482,300, And Haier 449,400. Changhong 580,565, Shanghai Radio and Television 502,686. On average, based on the 1.3 billion yuan bid amount, the price of each set top box is 356 yuan. The first phase of the project will benefit 22 provinces and municipalities including Shaanxi, Shanxi, Yunnan and Sichuan.

     "Because of the safety issues involved in broadcasting and TV, the purchase of livestreaming equipment is mostly for local manufacturers." According to people familiar with the situation, China's live-streaming star market is just beginning to open, which is a big boon for domestic set-top box makers that have failed to export overseas.

     In fact, at present the country is coming out all sorts of policies to pull market of domestic demand, for instance home appliance goes to the countryside wait, but the home appliance that gives priority to with TV goes to the countryside, should equip set top box certainly. Therefore, in the past two years, the set-top box market, especially the market of live star set-top box, will be full of business opportunities.

     Take this tender as an example, if according to the average price of 356 yuan to calculate, this tender alone tongzhou electronics will increase the sales of more than 170 million yuan.
